Byrding PDO approved

20. januar 2017

On 17 January, the PDO for Byrding was approved by the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy.

Minister of Petroleum and Energy Mr. Terje Søviknes (FrP) had this to say about the two approved North Sea projects (Utgard being the other one):

-These development projects are generating activity, jobs and opportunities for suppliers with available capacity. In the current situation, these development projects are great news for the industry.

Byrding is developed with a long branched well from the existing template at Fram H-Nord. All oil and gas is led into the Fram system and further on to Troll C for partial processing. From Troll C the oil will be sent to Mongstad while the gas goes to Troll A and then to Kollsnes.

The development makes good use of existing infrastructure in the area, providing a quick and cost-efficient development with good profitability. Estimated recoverable resources are just above 11 million boe. Planned production start is 3Q 2017.

The license partners in Byrding is operator Statoil Petroleum AS (70 %), Engie E&P Norge AS (15 %) and Idemitsu Petroleum Norge AS (15 %).
