Production start for Byrding

2. august 2017

On July 15, the Byrding field started its production.

The field is located in the Fram Area, north of Troll , and estimated recoverable reserves are around 11 million barrels of oil equivalents.

The Byrding development includes a two-branch multilateral well drilled from the existing Fram H-Nord subsea template, through which oil and gas are flowing via Fram infrastructure to Troll C.

The partnership has invested a total of around NOK 1 billion in the Byrding development. This is a significant reduction from the original planned investment of nearly NOK 3.5 billion. Idemitsu holds a 15 % share in Byrding alongside Statoil (70 % and operator) and Engie (15 %).

«The Byrding field adds valuable resources to the Fram Area in accordance with our strategy to timely explore and develop  time critical resources  located near already existing infrastucure ”, says Hiroshi Arikawa, Managing Director of Idemitsu Petroleum Norge.
